UNESCO seleciona Accounting Clerk - DF

Purpose of post: Under the authority of the Director of the Office, the supervision of the Deputy Director for Corporate Services and the direct supervision of the Chief of Accounting Unit, the incumbent will perform the following functions:
Main responsibilities:
1. Performs the analysis of accounts rendered by Contractors of AFC - Activity Financing Contract and assess compliance to financial execution standard rules and procedures;
2. Verifies adequacy of supporting documentation submitted by the contracted institution, indicating to Programme Officials by the issuance of a detailed report, what actions are to be taken for the settlement of the accounts rendered;
3. Follows-up on replies and monitors of pendencies are duly addressed and issues closed;
4. Suggests approval to the Chief of Unit for the payment of pending installments;
5. Verifies balances to be recovered, suggests accounting registration if necessary;
6. Controls and maintains records of petty cash and other types of advances, for extrabudgetary projects and UBO and Antennae;
7. Initiates correspondence to verify data accuracy, answers queries from Programme and partners and obtains additional information on accounts and financial transactions as required;
8. Keeps strict controls of in and out protocols and rendering of accounts schedules;
9. Manages requests for documentation held at the archives;
10. Provides training to UBO, Antennae and Partner personnel on the rules and procedures to be followed in the financial execution and accounts rendering for AFC;
11. Performs other duties as required.

Profile: Secondary Education; University degree in Administration or Finance would be an asset. 03 years of previous experience in the field of Administration and/or Accounting. Previous experience within UN agencies would be an asset. The post requires: - Knowledge of Microsoft Office package, specially excel, internet and related tools; - Proficiency in two languages: Good knowledge of English or French and excellent Portuguese; - Knowledge of UN system will be an asset. Profile competence required: - Ability to work in a team and under pressure; attention to detail, initiative, discretion and maturity of judgment.
Conditions of employment: Gross Monthly salary of 2.607,42 Reais. The initial contract will be for 03 months with a probationary period of 30 days. Renewal of contract will be subject to satisfactory service.
